Just wondering who has or is getting this excellent game.
I have purchased this game and I know Viking has as of today but unfortunately for Viking he's so busy he can't play it till Sunday. Now that sucks!

I have added a link below for the Sidewinders Owners Manual. Even though it is a PDF for the sidewinder it actually cab represent other ships too with the controls and add ons options a worthy read.

Yes, as posted elsewhere you either need a high enough faction rank, or a high enough reputation with the minor faction that owns the system.

Thought this may shed some light on the Permit situation and as it comes from Michael Brookes Executive Producer it has to be accurate.

(posted on games on net) Elite: Dangerous pilots to be able to walk around and fight on ships after launch By Jason Imms on November 27, 2014 at 10:26 am In a lengthy interview with Vice, CEO of Frontier Developments David Braben discusses post-release plans for Elite: Dangerous. Amongst other things, it seems that pilots will eventually be able to walk around and fight on their ships and on space stations, a much-touted feature of Chris Roberts’ immense and far-off Star Citizen. “We’re planning on adding the ability to walk around and fight inside ships and on stations, ship-to-ship boarding, co-op play, entering atmospheres and exploring the surfaces of planets,” says Braben, “Each of these is essentially a new game in its own right, so a lot of work is needed to make each component a superb experience.” It seems that your $60 investment in the full version of Elite: Dangerous will up its value proposition over time, which is a nice, whether or not you’re upset by the removal of offline play.

as posted on reddit by CMDR Aaron Static: The orbit lines have been adjusted "fixed"... they appear to be thinner and less intrusive on the Gamma 2.06 update as seen from his screen shot below:

Elite: Dangerous player wings feature due “early next year”5 Dec 2014 by Peter Parrish
Development will continue on Elite: Dangerous after the 16 December release date, and one of the earlier priorities will be player wings. That means they won’t be in at launch, but according to developer Sandro Sammarco, the feature “should hit early next year.” From what I can gather, player wings are a more advanced form of basic multiplayer grouping. The intent when people are in a “wing” together is that they behave as a single entity and make travel jumps together. It would presumably remove ‘friendly fire’ penalties too. Potentially (though this isn’t confirmed,) wings can also function as a way of splitting bounties between members of a group. Here’s a summary of what Frontier has planned: - enhanced matchmaking for wingmen
- enhanced/clear feedback for who and where wingmen are
- shared information within the wing
- shared bounties and mission rewards
- on-going mission support for wing gameplay
Earlier design documents for Elite: Dangerous also implied that AI wings would be a hiring option for single player mode (and that some might even betray you.) That part isn’t confirmed for release yet. These multiplayer “wings” are more like alliances.
Sammarco also says that an increased ship roster will be one of the first post-launch areas to get some attention.
In related news, the 52nd edition of the Elite: Dangerous newsletter has been released today. It contains a very short Vine-based teaser for the upcoming ‘launch’ trailer. You can view that over here.
That’s accompanied by a hefty bit of lore about a possible war of succession in the Imperial faction. It implies that there’ll be in-game repercussions from this in-fighting:
“On 16 December, the first shockwaves from this battle for the Imperial succession will finally hit the galaxy at large. How you choose to respond will have a direct bearing on the ultimate outcome.”
