Welcome to the ED beginners guide brought to you by the members of BattleLeague. there are guides out there that are quite in depth but this is just a quick guide to get you going. i (and anyoe else) will add more in separate posts (as that the only way i can make the attachments work dang it) so please scroll down for more sections HUD and Cockpit:The attached screen dump shows you the cock pits and its HUD (heads up display). i have added text and pointers to explain most points of the HUD. there are a quite a few bits of info that you can glimpse at whilst flying your craft. click on the image to see full version (including typos lol)the screenshot is of my starting craft's (Sidewinder) dashboard and HUD. the HUD is the same on all craft to make it easier to learn what is where. the actual cabin, dash, glass and seats of the craft change for every craft. The screenie was taken by me of Earth during an eclipse. as well as the HUD you also see the sort of cirlce-ish shape inside Earth...that is a HUD projection of the targets name....you can also see one slightly to the right of earth (that is the HUD spotting the moon). these targets are what to look out for and can be - Planets, moons, suns, stations and ships. the top left shows "COMMS" this is a chat box just like in BF4...so player chat and server info. the top right shows "INFO" this is your ships "chat" with info like "Landing Gear deployed" etc. Bottom left corner shows the system info (as in solar system not ship system) from my screenie you can see: - I am at Earth (0.17 Light Seconds away)
- I am in the Federation area (there are two other Major Factions - the Alliance and the Empire)
- I am have locked in the space station called Abraham Lincoln (there are 3 around Earth)
Hope this was helpful insight into the HUD and cockpit cheers KABLE

This is your HUD explained in more detail for beginners. Be aware this explanation is for a slightly earlier version of the game but for the most part is extremely useful, i would recommend any beginner take a close look at it.

[Originally posted by CMDR HisDivineShadow] Item | Explanation | Class | (Numeric) This is representative of the size of the slot needed to mount that particular piece of equipment. | Mass | (Numeric) How heavy the equipment is which affects how heavy the ship is overall which means that if the thrusters or shields may not handle the overall mass if it is beyond a certain point. | Integrity | (Alphabetical - Lower is better A= best) Not entirely sure about this but speculatively it is the amount of wear and tear and damage the module can take while in combat or even normal use over time. | Rating | (Alphabetical - Lower is better A = best) Consider this the grade or quality of the equipment,. For example an A rated pulse laser was made in some high tech cutting edge factory with the best processes materials while the I rate pulse laser was made by some surface dweller that the refurbished using parts from a crashed hauler and it's missing some things. | Power Draw | How many megawatts it draws from the power generator when on. The power generator only generates at maximum a set value going over this will cause systems to go offline. I also believe it effects how quickly the reservoirs in the power distributor to fill. Either way you want to have a little extra at least. |

Just a bit of a look at what being interdicted looks like. When you begin being interdicted you will have a blue segmented curved line halfway up and on the opposite side is a red segmented curved line halfway up on either side of the smaller circle with ESCAPE VECTOR written next to it, keep that inside or as close to the larger circle as possible. In the picture above you can see the thick blue segmented curved line is full and the red segmented curved line is gone, the interdiction has been beaten and you will return to normal supercruse. If the opposite happens and the red segmented curved line is full you will be pulled out of supercruse into docking speeds, you will have 2 choices if your lucky; - Deploy your weapons and prepare to fight.
- Try to return to supercruse without taking to much damage from the craft that pulled you out of supercruse in the first place.
